Joan Mir targets Honda upgrades at German MotoGP ahead of Gresini switch

Spanish rider Joan Mir said the upcoming German MotoGP at the Sachsenring will test Honda’s handling on the left side of the tyre, an area he identified as weak after consecutive non‑finishes at Assen. He hopes tighter sections will suit the RC213V, but stresses the need to improve grip on the tyre’s side for the high‑lean, throttle‑on‑left layout of the German circuit.

Mir also confirmed he will leave Honda for the Gresini Racing team next season, citing a lack of communication from Honda management after the Catalan Grand Prix. His move follows a similar path taken by former teammate Marc Márquez, although Mir’s decision is driven by franchise uncertainty rather than technical considerations. The switch puts him with the Italian outfit that previously helped riders such as Fabio Di Giannantonio and Enea Bastianini develop.

The announcements come as Honda continues a rebuilding phase, while Mir looks to regain form with a team that promises more supportive conditions.
