Joan Sales' Incierta gloria to receive new edition by Anagrama

Anagrama is releasing a new edition of Joan Sales' novel, "Incierta gloria," translated by Gonzalo Torné. The 520-page work is priced at 23.90 euros.

Considered a landmark in Spanish literature, "Incierta gloria" was one of the first novels published during the dictatorship to depict the Spanish Civil War from the perspective of the defeated. The author, a former Republican combatant, drew on his experiences and reflections from his time in exile in France, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic to write the work.

The novel features a unique structure where the story is told through three different first-person narrators—a Republican officer, his partner, and a former seminarian turned officer—to suggest that truth is dependent on individual perspective and timing.
