Joao Cancelo defends performance following Barcelona loss

Barcelona defender Joao Cancelo has responded to criticism following the club’s recent Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. After the match, which ended in a loss for Barcelona, the Portuguese full-back used social media to address analysts and supporters who questioned his defensive contribution.

In a post on Instagram, Cancelo challenged his detractors, stating, “Everyone claims to have expertise from the stands. I would like to see them come down to the pitch and deal with the pressure.” He also expressed self-assurance, writing, “I am the only one who does not doubt myself.”

Despite the scrutiny, Cancelo maintains the support of manager Hansi Flick and the Barcelona board, having recently signed a contract extension through June 2029. His comments come ahead of the upcoming El Clasico against Real Madrid.
