Joao Cancelo responds to criticism following Barcelona losses

Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo has addressed public criticism following FC Barcelona's recent defeats against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Real Madrid in El Clasico.

Cancelo utilized social media to defend his performance, stating, “From the stands, everyone is a specialist. I would like to see them step onto the pitch and handle the pressure.” He further emphasized his resilience by sharing a post captioned, “The only one who cannot doubt himself is me,” accompanied by the song “Yo creo en mí” (I believe in myself).

Despite the scrutiny, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick reportedly maintains full confidence in the player. Cancelo, who returned to the club following a loan from Al-Hilal, remains a key part of the squad's tactical plans. His upcoming matches against Deportivo Alavés and Aston Villa are viewed as critical opportunities to respond to critics through on-field performance. Due to defensive absences including Jules Koundé, Eric Garcia, and Xavi Espart, Cancelo may be deployed on either the left or right flank.
