Following his performance, the Brazilian forward signed a new contract with Chelsea running until 2034, which includes improved financial terms. Chelsea previously acquired Pedro from Brighton for £55 million, with potential bonuses totaling £5 million.

Pedro’s early goal addresses long-standing discussions among supporters regarding a perceived ‘number nine curse’ at the club, as several high-profile strikers have struggled while wearing the shirt in recent years.
