Joaquim Cruz shares running tips ahead of Dez Milhas Garoto

Olympic champion Joaquim Cruz is sharing training insights and experiences ahead of the 35th edition of the Dez Milhas Garoto in Espírito Santo, Brazil. The event, which holds a World Athletics seal of quality, takes place this Sunday, September 27, following a route between Vitória and Vila Velha.

Cruz, an 800m gold medalist from the 1984 Olympics, reflected on his history with mile races in the United States, noting the technical similarities between the 1,500m and the mile. He emphasized that for any distance, whether a mile or ten miles, runners must understand the challenge, manage their energy distribution, and respect the course to succeed.
