Joaquim Pueyo, former Alençon mayor, accused of sexual assault on minors
Joaquim Pueyo, the former mayor of Alençon and a former member of the French National Assembly, is facing new allegations of sexual assault against minors. Two men, aged 59 and 47, have filed formal complaints.
One complainant, aged 59, alleges he was sexually abused at age 14 in the Alençon region. The second complainant, aged 47, alleges he was subjected to sexual touching at age 15 during a stay at the Nanterre prison, where Pueyo served as director.
These new claims follow previous allegations made by journalist Frédéric Pommier, who detailed experiencing sexual violence as a child in a book released in April 2026. While the Caen prosecutor's office previously closed Pommier's case due to the statute of limitations, the two new complainants have moved forward with legal action.
Pueyo, who served as mayor of the Normandy city from 2008 to 2017 and again from 2020 to 2026, denies all accusations through his lawyer, stating he contests the claims with the utmost firmness.
