Joaquín Correa returns to Estudiantes on loan from Botafogo

Argentine forward Joaquín Correa, 31, has rejoined Estudiantes de La Plata on a two‑season loan from Brazilian club Botafogo. The move follows Botafogo’s termination of Correa’s contract, which was originally set to run until the end of 2027. Estudiantes secured the player after lifting a transfer ban caused by a debt to Inter Miami, allowing his registration before the extended Argentine window closes on 2 September.

Correa struggled at Botafogo, making 24 appearances and scoring two goals, and was excluded from the squad in May. His return to the club where he began his professional career aims to bolster Estudiantes’ attack ahead of the Copa Libertadores knockout stage. Coach Alexander Medina expects Correa to contribute as the team prepares for upcoming domestic and continental matches.
