Joaquín Ramírez places second in Cajamarca regional elections

Joaquín Ramírez, candidate for the Regional Government of Cajamarca, finished in second place according to preliminary election results. Exit polls from Datum and América Televisión indicated that Edison Carrasco of Somos Perú led the race with 30.9% of the vote, while Ramírez, representing Cajamarca Renace, secured 20.3%.

During the campaign and the subsequent counting process, Ramírez was accompanied by model Sheyla Rojas. Prior to the vote, the pair participated in activities at a local soup kitchen, 'Gustitos y Sazón', to support low-income residents. As preliminary figures were released, Rojas expressed surprise at the margin, while Ramírez maintained a calm stance, noting that the official count from the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) was still required to finalize the results.
