Job cuts hit firms in Croatia and Bosnia, reducing hundreds of positions
Two companies owned by the Osatina Group in Đurđevac, Croatia – Nova Natura and Mesna industrija Natura – cut their workforces by roughly a quarter. Nova Natura’s staff fell from 75 to about 60 employees, while Mesna industrija Natura lost around ten jobs, bringing the combined reduction to roughly 25 % of positions. Net average wages at the firms were reported at about €900‑€1,000 per month.
In the Bosnian municipality of Olovo, the two largest local employers also announced large layoffs. Alma Ras reduced its staff from 460 to 350 workers, eliminating 110 jobs, and the mining company Geomet cut its workforce from around 200 to just 53 employees, shedding roughly 150 positions. Over 250 jobs disappeared in total, despite small increases at firms such as Aquaterm and Bingosa, which were insufficient to offset the loss.
Both regions noted the negative impact on local development indicators, with Olovo slipping on a federation‑wide development ranking after the employment decline.
