Job seekers use AI bots to troll automated recruiters

As companies increasingly adopt AI recruiters, job seekers are responding with various methods of resistance, including providing nonsense answers or using AI clones to attend interviews.

In a viral experiment by YouTuber Graham Dot Zip, an AI representative named Victor was used to interview an AI recruiter. The interaction highlighted significant flaws in automated negotiation; the AI representative embellished qualifications and suggested a salary of approximately $60,000, while the actual candidate sought between $140,000 and $150,000. The AI recruiter refused to exceed $90,000.

When the human candidate stepped away, the two bots continued the conversation, eventually arranging further interviews and exchanging professional pleasantries without human oversight. This trend reflects a growing movement of candidates treating automated hiring tools as technology to be tested or mocked rather than as legitimate gatekeepers.
