Croatia expands job preservation aid to Brač following fires

The Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) has expanded its job preservation support measure to include the island of Brač, following recent fires in September 2026. This extension follows a similar measure previously applied to the Omiš area.

The support is designed for employers whose business premises, equipment, or stocks were damaged or destroyed by the fires. It aims to help maintain jobs until business operations can be restored. The aid provides up to 1,500 euros per month per worker, primarily targeting entrepreneurs in the tourism and catering sectors.

To qualify, workers must have been employed on permanent contracts prior to September 10, 2026. Applications can be submitted online through the HZZ website until October 30, 2026.

Separately, various regional job openings have been announced across Croatia, including positions in the Baranja region and Virovitica-Podravina County, covering roles such as educators, medical technicians, construction workers, and agricultural staff.
