JobsOhio launches technician training incentive program
JobsOhio and Lake to River Economic Development have launched the JobsOhio Technician Path, an incentive program designed to bolster the skilled workforce in Ohio. The initiative provides participating employers with up to $10,000 per employee who completes approved training pathways, such as apprenticeships, training programs, or degree programs.
The program targets high-demand roles in sectors including advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and aerospace & defense. It serves as the first phase of a $300 million JobsOhio Experiential Learning Initiative, a broader investment strategy previously announced by state leadership to address the shortage of technical talent.
In the Mahoning Valley region, the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition is acting as a liaison to help companies connect with funding and identify suitable training providers. The program aims to facilitate ‘earn-and-learn’ models, allowing workers to gain specialized skills in roles such as industrial maintenance, systems specialists, and operators while earning wages.
