Jocelyn Benson faces scrutiny over Michigan election management and gubernatorial eligibility

Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is facing scrutiny regarding her eligibility for the governorship and her management of election administration. Representative John James has criticized Benson, alleging mismanagement of election-related matters and claiming that noncitizens have appeared on jury duty rolls and that several individuals have voted in elections.

Additionally, activist Robert Davis has argued that Benson should be decertified from the November general election ballot. Davis claims that Benson filed a false affidavit of identity required to qualify as a candidate for governor, alleging she had outstanding campaign-related filing fees and fines at the time of signing. Davis suggests these errors should disqualify her from both the gubernatorial race and her current position as Secretary of State.
