Jockey Club Villa María hosts anniversary horse racing event

The Jockey Club Villa María hosted a major horse racing event to celebrate the 159th anniversary of the city of Villa María. The program featured over 20 races with horses arriving from various provinces.

Key competitions included the Clásico Fundación de Villa María, a 2,200-meter race—the longest distance in the province of Córdoba—and the Clásico José María Reale, held over 1,600 meters. The event drew significant crowds from the city, the surrounding region, and provinces such as San Luis and Santa Fe.

A central highlight was the presence of Brazilian jockey Jorge Ricardo, a world-renowned figure with a Guinness World Record for over 13,000 career wins. Mayor Eduardo Accastello presented Ricardo with a recognition of his career achievements. Other notable figures in attendance included Argentine jockey Juan Carlos Noriega and historical turf icon Jorge “El Grande” Valdivieso.
