Jockey Club Yenching Workshop renovation completed in Yuen Long

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has allocated over HK$237 million to modernize nine integrated vocational rehabilitation service centers. As part of this initiative, the renovated ‘Jockey Club Yenching Workshop’ in Yuen Long has officially completed its upgrades.

Operated by Christian Action, the workshop provides vocational training for 130 persons with disabilities. The facility features a 600-square-foot professional training kitchen with food manufacturing licensing, a simulated cafe for retail and customer service training, and specialized equipment for pottery and leather crafts, including laser engravers and large kilns.

The center has also integrated rehabilitation technology to provide functional assessments and interactive training, alongside accessibility features like wireless electric wheelchair-accessible tables.

In collaboration with the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the workshop implements the ‘Jockey Club Wellness Milestone Support Program.’ This program uses health monitoring equipment to create personal health files and offers support in nutrition, exercise, and self-management. To promote social inclusion, the workshop has also established Boccia teams and running clubs involving students, families, and community volunteers.
