Jockey Ezequiel Blok dies after serious accident on Route 18

Ezequiel Blok, a young jockey from San Salvador, has died following a severe traffic accident on National Route 18. Blok had remained hospitalized for several weeks after sustaining serious injuries, including fractures to his left arm and leg.

The collision occurred on Saturday, August 22, at approximately 7:35 a.m. near kilometer 217 of Route 18. Blok was driving a Volkswagen Gol Power when it collided head-on with a DAF CF85 truck owned by Veloce Logística. The truck was operated by a Brazilian citizen.

Emergency responders from the San Salvador and General Campos volunteer fire departments had to perform a rescue operation to extract Blok from the vehicle. While Blok was transported to the Delicia Concepción Masvernat Hospital in Concordia, the two other adult occupants of the car sustained minor injuries and were treated at the San Miguel Hospital in San Salvador. The truck driver was uninjured.
