Jockey Yonathan León sanctioned at Valencia Racetrack
The National Institute of Horse Racing (INH) has issued disciplinary sanctions against jockey Yonathan León following incidents at the National Valencia Racetrack.
According to the National Board of Commissioners, León received a fine for failing to report a delay at the starting gate. During the fifth race of the 23rd meeting, the horse Work Time (03) rose up when the start was ordered, causing a delay that the jockey did not disclose, violating Article 253 of the National Racing Regulations.
Additionally, León has been handed a six-week suspension, effective from September 21, 2026, to November 2, 2026. This sanction follows an incident during the initial meters of a race where León, riding Roberto Erre (10), violently veered inward and crossed the racing line of jockey Martinez Osis on Resilience (02) without maintaining the required distance. As a result, the finishing positions from 8th to 10th place were distanced.
