Joe Amabile recovers from brain tumor surgery
Reality television personality and podcast host Joe Amabile has provided an update three weeks after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor. Amabile, 40, reported that while he is approximately 90% recovered, he continues to face some challenges with vocalizing his thoughts.
The tumor, described as a blueberry-sized lesion in his left frontal lobe, was discovered in July following an elective full-body MRI screening. Amabile noted that medical professionals suggested he might not have known about the lesion until he experienced a seizure.
Dr. Alexandra Miller, chief of neuro-oncology at the Perlmutter Cancer Center, stated that follow-up scans at NYU Medical Center identified the tumor as an astrocytoma. Dr. Miller noted that the tumor has a “good prognosis” and emphasized the importance of the early detection.
