Joe diGenova resigns from DOJ Trump conspiracy probe

Joe diGenova, a prominent Trump ally and former U.S. attorney, has resigned from his position at the Justice Department. He had been leading a sprawling investigation based in Florida into whether former law enforcement and intelligence officials engaged in a conspiracy against Donald Trump.

DiGenova's departure follows reported friction with Justice Department leadership and the White House regarding the pace and management of the probe. While diGenova characterized his exit as voluntary, sources indicated that officials had lost confidence in his ability to lead the inquiry effectively. The investigation, which has scrutinized actions dating back to the 2016 election, has not yet resulted in any criminal prosecutions.

His resignation coincides with the departure of his wife, attorney Victoria Toensing, from the department. The investigation has recently seen increased activity, including the issuance of subpoenas to multiple former officials before a federal grand jury in Fort Pierce, Florida.
