Joe Gannascoli aims to lose more weight ahead of new TV project

Actor Joseph (Joe) R. Gannascoli, known for playing Vito Spatafore on HBO’s *The Sopranos*, has already shed more than 150 pounds, dropping from about 400 lb to roughly 250 lb. At 67, he is now targeting a further 40‑pound loss to reach around 210 lb in preparation for an upcoming television series based on his 2006 Mafia‑themed cookbook, *A Meal to Die For*.

Gannascoli’s current fitness regimen includes early‑morning golf on Long Island, pickleball sessions by 8 a.m., and four‑times‑weekly gym workouts focusing on heavier weights with fewer reps. He follows intermittent fasting, typically stops eating after 2 p.m., and limits red meat while increasing salad intake. The actor says he feels better and looks better than during his *Sopranos* years and has also quit gambling after five decades.

The new TV project will mark his first on‑screen role since the series ended in 2007 and is intended to showcase his culinary expertise and health journey.
