Joe Gibbs Racing alleges Chris Gabehart violated restraining order

Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) has filed a motion seeking a contempt finding against former competition director Chris Gabehart and Spire Motorsports, alleging violations of a court-ordered restraining order. The legal dispute, valued at $8 million, centers on claims that Gabehart has performed duties at Spire that are restricted by the court to prevent him from using proprietary information from his former employer.

JGR’s filing cites evidence from depositions, including testimony that Gabehart provided specific tire pressure information and spring setting ranges used by JGR during races. The organization alleges that Gabehart’s involvement in Spire’s competition meetings regarding race setups violates the terms of his transition.

In response to the escalating legal battle, Gabehart posted a sarcastic comment on X while congratulating Spire driver Tristan McKee on his recent achievements. Gabehart questioned whether he was ‘at least allowed’ to praise the young driver, a remark widely interpreted as a reference to the ongoing litigation and the restrictions placed on his professional activities.
