Joe Lycett to launch Channel 4 pub series ‘The Lycett Arms’
Comedian Joe Lycett is launching a new six-part live series on Channel 4 titled ‘The Lycett Arms’ to celebrate British pub culture. The show is scheduled to air on Friday nights at 10pm, beginning September 4.
To facilitate the series, Lycett opened a pub in East London that will operate for only one hour each week on Fridays. To legally serve alcohol for the production, Lycett completed a training course and passed an exam to obtain a level 2 award for personal licence-holders.
Each episode will feature Lycett working a trial shift alongside a celebrity pub manager. Additionally, the show will pair his East London location with a real pub located elsewhere in the UK. Lycett stated that the project aims to champion the pub industry, which he believes is currently under threat, noting that pubs serve as vital community hubs for social connection.
