Joe Manganiello details health battle and divorce in new memoir

Actor Joe Manganiello has released a memoir titled ‘Bloodlines’, in which he details a private seven-year battle with a life-threatening, undiagnosed autoimmune illness. To promote the book, Manganiello shared graphic images on social media documenting his medical ordeal, including hospitalizations, skin conditions, and the aftermath of emergency surgery to remove part of his large intestine. He noted that the surgery resulted in a significant weight loss of approximately 60 pounds.

The memoir also sheds light on the breakdown of his marriage to actress Sofía Vergara, which lasted from 2015 to 2023. Manganiello describes a period of emotional isolation and alleges that Vergara made hurtful comments regarding his health during their divorce proceedings. Conversely, sources close to Vergara claim she feels betrayed by these accounts, asserting that she supported him throughout his illness.

Additionally, Manganiello recounts spiritual experiences mentioned in the book, including claims from a shaman regarding the impact of his health and marriage on his well-being. He is currently engaged to Caitlin O’Connor, who has publicly expressed her support for him following his recent disclosures.
