Joe Manganiello suspects Tom Cruise interfered with Reacher casting

In his new memoir, “Bloodlines”, actor Joe Manganiello reveals that his team suspected Tom Cruise may have used his influence to block him from landing the lead role in the Amazon Prime Video series “Reacher”.

Manganiello noted that despite impressing producers—including Skydance executive Don Granger, who reportedly stated Manganiello was the closest match to the book character he had ever met—the role ultimately went to Alan Ritchson. Manganiello’s team speculated that Cruise, an executive producer on the series who previously starred in the film adaptations, may have vetoed the casting due to his past relationship with Manganiello’s ex-wife, Sofía Vergara.

The memoir also mentions that Amazon executive Jennifer Salke reportedly felt excluded from the casting process, which was being conducted by male producers. Representatives for Tom Cruise did not respond to inquiries regarding these claims.
