Joe Musgrove faces setback in Padres rehab assignment
San Diego Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove has faced a setback in his recovery following Tommy John surgery. After a rehab outing for Triple-A El Paso where he pitched five innings and allowed one run on 60 pitches, Musgrove experienced persistent arm soreness.
Padres manager Craig Stammen noted that Musgrove is not recovering as quickly as desired and has been unable to participate in his scheduled bullpen session. The team is currently reassessing his status on a daily basis.
Musgrove, who underwent surgery in October 2024, has struggled with recovery timing throughout his rehabilitation process. With only 22 games remaining in the season and the Padres in a tight race for a National League wild-card berth, his return to the major league roster remains uncertain.
