Joe Pavelski joins University of Wisconsin as player development director

Joe Pavelski has joined the University of Wisconsin men’s hockey program as the director of player development. The 42-year-old alumnus returns to Madison following an 18-season NHL career with the San Jose Sharks and Dallas Stars.

During his professional career, Pavelski recorded 1,068 points in 1,332 games and was a four-time NHL All-Star. He previously played for the Badgers during the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons, leading the team to an NCAA Division I Championship in 2006.

Before this appointment, Pavelski spent two seasons coaching youth hockey for the Madison Capitals. The Wisconsin program is seeking its first national championship since Pavelski’s collegiate title in 2006.
