Joe Petraro-Hyppolite to begin NYU master’s degree at age 13

Joe Petraro-Hyppolite, a 13-year-old from Long Island, New York, has been accepted into a master’s programme at New York University. His studies will focus on sports management, alongside kinesiology and biology.

Petraro-Hyppolite has achieved several academic milestones well ahead of traditional timelines. At age 10, he scored 1,590 on the SAT, and he earned his high school diploma at age 11. He has also studied at Louisiana State University and is currently working toward completing his undergraduate degree, which he expects to finish in May 2027.

With an IQ of 168, the teenager noted that his academic success does not mean everything comes naturally, stating, “I have to learn.” His mother, Anne Petraro-Hyppolite, highlighted his progress as particularly remarkable given that he was previously diagnosed with Tourette syndrome and placed in special education classes.
