Joe Pride confident in Private Eye for Shannon Stakes

Trainer Joe Pride expressed confidence in Private Eye ahead of the Shannon Stakes at Rosehill. Pride believes that if the gelding is positioned near the pace, he will be difficult to beat in the 1500m contest.

Private Eye has a history of winning from various positions, including coming from near the back to win the Epsom and the Queensland Guineas. However, Pride noted that the horse currently prefers to be on-speed. The gelding’s recent form includes a strong second in the Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield, though he struggled in the Tramway Stakes after drawing a wide barrier.

In the upcoming race, Private Eye will start from barrier three and carries only two kilograms more than the favourite, Skyhook. Pride’s stablemate, Estadio Mestalla, will also compete in the Shannon Stakes and aims to improve upon a recent unplaced performance.
