Joe Purdy confirms discussions for ‘Hey Arnold!’ revival

Writer and producer Joe Purdy has confirmed that discussions regarding a revival of the classic Nickelodeon animated series ‘Hey Arnold!’ are currently taking place at Paramount. Speaking at MultiCon 2026, Purdy noted that while the business environment and decision-making leadership are constantly changing, conversations about the series are “absolutely” happening.

Purdy indicated that if a revival proceeds, the characters would likely only age a year or two rather than undergoing a significant time jump, such as moving into high school. He suggested that while the setting would remain similar, the inclusion of modern technology would be a notable difference in a new iteration. Purdy stated that he has many storylines prepared and is “sort of ready to go” should the project receive a green light.

Created by Craig Bartlett, ‘Hey Arnold!’ originally aired from 1996 to 2004, following the adventures of Arnold Shortman in the fictional city of Hillwood. The series is currently available for streaming on Paramount+.
