Joe Rogan suggests UFC should have booked Michael Chandler for Conor McGregor comeback
UFC commentator Joe Rogan has expressed his opinion that the promotion should have prioritized a matchup between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler for McGregor’s recent comeback.
McGregor recently returned to the Octagon at UFC 329 in a rematch against Max Holloway, but the bout ended in a first-round TKO loss after McGregor suffered a knee injury. The injury is expected to sideline the former two-division champion for approximately one year. While McGregor has expressed interest in a trilogy bout with Holloway, Rogan argues that Chandler was the more appropriate opponent.
McGregor and Chandler were originally scheduled to face each other at UFC 303 in June 2024, but the bout was canceled after McGregor suffered a toe injury. Rogan noted that the matchup would have been a compelling stylistic contest between Chandler’s aggressive wrestling and McGregor’s striking.
