Joe Ross jailed for Cambridgeshire jewellery and post office burglary spree

Joe Ross, 36, has been sentenced to 16 months in prison at Peterborough Crown Court following a crime spree across Cambridgeshire. Ross admitted to multiple counts of burglary, attempted burglary, and theft from a shop.

The spree included a raid on Chloe’s Jewellers in St Ives, where Ross used a hammer to smash display cabinets and steal £29,000 worth of jewellery in approximately two minutes. Within 24 hours, he used the same hammer to break into the Stow-Cum-Quy Post Office, stealing £450 in cash. He also stole coffee from a Co-op in Burwell and attempted to break into the Burwell Post Office on May 3.

In addition to his prison sentence, Ross was ordered to pay over £32,000 in compensation to the affected businesses. Detective Constable Samuel Andrews described Ross as a “prolific criminal” who had caused significant financial loss and distress to local businesses after being released from prison earlier this year.
