Joe Russo reveals how Spider-Man’s death scene was rewritten

Director Joe Russo has revealed that Spider-Man’s death scene in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ was rewritten on the day of filming to increase its emotional impact on audiences.

According to Russo, the original script featured Peter Parker telling Tony Stark, ‘I don’t feel so good,’ followed by an apology. To elicit a stronger reaction, Russo directed Tom Holland to improvise a more desperate plea, resulting in the line, ‘I don’t want to go.’

Russo noted that the production team intentionally developed the mentor-mentee relationship between Peter Parker and Tony Stark in reverse to ensure the character's death would be particularly heartbreaking. This approach resulted in Spider-Man’s death sequence being the longest of any character death in the film.
