Joe Satriani and Steve Vai announce debut collaborative album

Guitarists Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have announced their first collaborative studio album, titled ‘The Sea of Emotion’, scheduled for release on November 6, 2026, via earMUSIC.

The project, operating under the name SatchVai, marks the culmination of a relationship that began in 1973 when Satriani taught guitar to a 13-year-old Vai in Long Island. The duo, known for their G3 tours, decided to record the full-length album following a G3 reunion tour that created unexpected gaps in their schedules.

The album features ten tracks, including the newly released single ‘Mayhem’. The title track is a three-part suite that incorporates an old reel-to-reel recording from the pair’s early teenage sessions. The production involves Eric Caudieux and features various musical collaborators, including drummers Kenny Aronoff and Mike Mangini, and bassists Billy Sheehan and Bryan Beller.
