Joe Scally to remain at Borussia Mönchengladbach
Joe Scally will remain at Borussia Mönchengladbach despite previous plans to facilitate his departure during the summer transfer window. Although the club initially aimed to sell the American defender, a lack of offers from top-five European leagues and recent squad depth issues have resulted in him staying at the club.
Sporting director Rouven Schröder indicated that the club will not pursue further transfers in markets such as Turkey, Portugal, or Saudi Arabia as those windows close. The decision is further influenced by injuries to other defensive options, including Daiki Hashioka, who is recovering from a neck injury sustained in a match against Leipzig.
Scally, who joined the club from New York City FC in 2021, has a contract running until 2027. However, there are currently no indications of a contract extension, suggesting he may leave the club on a free transfer when his deal expires.
