Joe Scarborough criticizes GOP over Trump family business deals
On the Morning Joe broadcast, hosts Joe Scarborough and Willie Geist criticized Republican leaders for what they described as hypocrisy regarding business dealings within political families. The hosts contrasted the years of Republican scrutiny directed at Hunter Biden with the perceived silence from the GOP concerning the Trump family's financial activities during Donald Trump's second term.
Scarborough claimed that investigations revealed the Trump family has profited at least $2.3 billion since the start of the current presidential term through various deals, including defense contracts and mining interests. He characterized these earnings as ‘pure corruption’ and suggested that the influx of wealth is ‘impacting the decisions that Donald Trump was making in the White House.’
Geist and Scarborough argued that the scale of the Trump family's alleged self-enrichment is significantly larger than the issues previously raised regarding Hunter Biden, such as his discussions on Air Force Two. Scarborough accused Republican lawmakers of ‘sitting by and allowing this to be the most corrupt administration in the history of America.’
