Joel da Silva Kiala faces driving ban after alcohol incident

Alemannia Aachen defender Joel da Silva Kiala has accepted a penal order following a driving under the influence incident in Aachen. The 22-year-old player was involved in a collision with a traffic sign in early July after his vehicle veered off the road.

According to reports, the player initially attempted to leave the scene but was detained by an off-duty police officer. While he refused a voluntary breathalyzer test, a subsequent blood test revealed a blood alcohol level of 2.1 per mille.

The Aachen District Court has issued a fine of 1,200 euros and a nine-month driving ban. The player may also be required to undergo a medical-psychological assessment (MPU) to prove abstinence. In response to the incident, Alemannia Aachen management described the behavior as a ‘serious mistake’ and imposed additional internal sanctions on the player.
