Joel Jin Nwamadi finishes fourth in Asian Games 100m final

South Korean sprinter Joel Jin Nwamadi achieved a notable result at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, finishing fourth in the men’s 100-meter final with a time of 10.17 seconds. This performance marks the best result for a South Korean athlete in the 100-meter event at the Asian Games since 1982.

Following his 100-meter performance, Nwamadi was unable to complete his preliminary race in the 200-meter dash due to leg cramps. Officials from the Korea Association of Athletics Federations suggested the cramps may have been caused by the physical strain of competing and undergoing a doping test in the early hours of the morning.

Nwamadi, a former child actor known for his role in ‘Descendants of the Sun’, is currently receiving treatment and is expected to participate in the upcoming 4x100m relay and mixed 4x100m relay events.
