Joel Ordóñez to miss remainder of 2026 due to foot injury

Ecuadorian defender Joel Ordóñez will be sidelined for the remainder of 2026 due to complications from a foot injury. After initial conservative treatments failed to resolve a fracture in his right navicular bone, the Club Brugge player underwent surgery.

Ordóñez is expected to begin individual training in December, with a target return to competitive play in January 2027. His absence will impact Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League and the Belgian league, as well as the Ecuador national team. The injury, which originated from an incident in May, reportedly worsened after the player participated in the 2026 World Cup while managing the initial fissure.
