Joel Pereira critiques Lech Poznań youth development
Joel Pereira, a veteran defender for Lech Poznań, has offered constructive criticism regarding the club's youth development and player management. In an interview with TVP Sport, the 30-year-old Portuguese player noted that while the club excels at identifying talent, there are issues with the motivation of young players during training and the timing of their transfers.
Pereira suggested that some players are sold before they are fully prepared to be productive in higher-level leagues, noting that several former academy players have struggled to find success in Europe. He emphasized that a lack of mental approach and motivation among youth players may be contributing to these difficulties.
Despite these critiques, Pereira highlighted specific talents he observed during his tenure. He specifically praised Filip Szymczak, noting the player's exceptional ability to use both feet effectively, stating that Szymczak possesses skills for a much larger career if he can regain confidence and scoring form.
