Joely targets VRC Oaks via Drummond Golf Vase

Trainer Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young have selected the Group 2 Drummond Golf Vase at Flemington as the final stepping stone for the filly Joely ahead of the Group 1 VRC Oaks on November 5.

Joely is one of only two fillies scheduled to compete in the 2040-metre Vase this Saturday, where she will face colts. The decision to bypass the Ethereal Stakes at Caulfield was made to better suit the filly's campaign. Busuttin noted that the 12-day gap between the Vase and the Oaks provides a suitable schedule and that the Flemington track is preferable to Caulfield for her.

Joely has three career starts, including a debut win at Echuca and a recent second-place finish in the Edward Manifold Stakes at Flemington. Jockey Craig Williams is set to ride the filly again this Saturday.
