Practical Magic 2 casting controversy involves Joey King and Evan Rachel Wood
The upcoming sequel Practical Magic 2 has sparked discussion regarding its casting decisions. Joey King has taken over the role of Kylie Owens, originally played by Evan Rachel Wood in the 1998 film. Director Susanne Bier explained that the recasting was a logistical necessity to reflect the characters as young adults recently out of college.
Evan Rachel Wood expressed disappointment at not being invited back, noting that she had offered her services but was told the production was recasting.
