Joey Manu signs with PNG Chiefs for 2028 NRL season
Joey Manu has signed a two-year deal with the PNG Chiefs, marking his return to rugby league for the franchise's inaugural NRL season in 2028. The New Zealander, currently playing rugby union for French club Racing 92, will join the Chiefs as their seventh marquee signing.
Racing 92 has officially confirmed that Manu will depart the club at the conclusion of the 2026/2027 season. While his long-term commitment to the PNG Chiefs is secured for 2028, Manu remains a free agent for the 2027 season. Several NRL clubs are reportedly interested in signing him for a short-term stint during that year.
