Joey Porter Jr. contract negotiations spark debate among Steelers analysts
Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. is at the center of ongoing contract negotiations as the NFL season approaches. Former Steelers linebacker James Harrison has criticized the organization, suggesting that the team’s failure to extend a formal offer to Porter is “disrespectful” and fails to acknowledge his value to the roster.
Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the scale of Porter’s potential contract. While some NFL Network insiders have suggested Porter could become the highest-paid cornerback in the league, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter Ray Fittipaldo has disputed this, characterizing such a salary as a “pipe dream.” Fittipaldo estimates that while Porter may seek upwards of $33 million per season, a more realistic final figure could be closer to $28 million, noting that the Steelers' initial figures were reportedly around $25 million.
