Joey Porter Jr. ruled out for Cowboys' game against Buccaneers
The Dallas Cowboys have ruled cornerback Joey Porter Jr. out of their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to an illness. Although Porter was listed on the injury report with an ankle injury earlier in the week, he had been a full participant in all practices leading up to the game.
Porter was recently traded to the Cowboys from the Pittsburgh Steelers following failed contract negotiations. Former Steelers player Breiden Fehoko has criticized the Steelers' ownership, specifically the Rooney family, for their traditional approach to contract negotiations and their reluctance to offer guaranteed money during the season, which contributed to the player's departure.
With Porter sidelined, Shavon Revel is expected to take a starting role in the Cowboys' secondary. Additionally, Cobie Durant has been ruled out for the game with a hamstring injury.
