Johan Cruijff Arena adds checkout‑free bar as beer prices rise
The Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam has introduced an autonomous checkout‑free bar, allowing fans to purchase drinks without a cashier. The initiative is highlighted as a retail‑technology innovation ahead of the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.
At the same time, the stadium announced a modest increase in beer prices for the upcoming season. A half‑liter beer will rise from €7.25 to €7.65, a medium from €7.10 to €7.45, and a small from €5.25 to €5.50. Stadium operational director Hidde Salverda explained the change reflects a 9.6 % rise in beer purchase costs and a 12.5 % increase in staff expenses since 2024, though the price hike is limited to 4.8 % to keep fares reasonable. Prices for soft drinks remain unchanged, while food prices may increase by up to three percent.
