Johan Grobbelaar signs long-term extension with Vodacom Bulls

The Vodacom Bulls have secured the long-term future of Springbok hooker Johan Grobbelaar, signing him to a contract extension that keeps him at the Pretoria-based club until 2030.

Grobbelaar, who originally joined the Bulls in 2017, was previously set to become a free agent next year. Bulls CEO Edgar Rathbone described the extension as a “massive statement of intent,” noting that Grobbelaar embodies the values of the franchise and serves as a leader within the squad.

The retention of the international player is seen as a strategic move by the Bulls to maintain local talent amidst a trend of South African players moving to overseas leagues. The club aims to use this stability to compete for honors in both the United Rugby Championship and the Champions Cup.
