Johan Schönbeck to depart Swiss men's floorball team after 2026 World Championship

Johan Schönbeck has announced that he will step down as the head coach of the Swiss men's national floorball team following the 2026 World Championship in Finland. His tenure, which began in May 2023, will conclude after the tournament in December.

Schönbeck cited personal reasons for his decision, specifically noting a desire to spend less time away from his family in Växjö, Sweden. He also mentioned the difficulty of managing the long periods between training camps and international tournaments.

During his time with Swiss Unihockey, Schönbeck led a significant personnel overhaul, integrating young players into the international squad. While the team achieved notable successes, such as victories against Finland and the Czech Republic, they did not secure a medal during his leadership, finishing fifth at the 2024 World Championship and failing to medal at the 2025 World Games.
