Johann Lafer shares positive health update after cancer treatment

TV chef Johann Lafer has shared a positive update regarding his battle with lymph node cancer. Appearing at the Media Night during the international equestrian competitions in Aachen, the 68-year-old chef spoke openly about his health journey and his recovery process.

After being diagnosed in late 2023, Lafer initially attempted to manage the illness through lifestyle changes and alternative methods. When these were unsuccessful, he began a demanding course of chemotherapy in January 2026. The treatment had significant side effects, including a temporary loss of his sense of taste, which he described as a major blow to his professional identity.

Lafer expressed optimism about his current state, stating, “I am on a very good path” and noting that he feels “substantially better.” Despite the challenges of the therapy, he has already returned to professional activity, cooking for guests in Aachen, and plans to take a restorative holiday with his family before pursuing new projects.
