Austrian star chef Johann Lafer has made a televised comeback following his diagnosis of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. During a filming of the 'Grill den Henssler Sommer-Special', the 68-year-old was met with standing ovations from the studio audience.

Lafer, who had previously kept his illness private, went public with his diagnosis in May after viewers speculated about his changed appearance on 'ZDF-Fernsehgarten'. He revealed on Instagram that he is battling an indolent, non-aggressive form of the disease, which was originally discovered during a routine check-up approximately two and a half years ago.

The chef has undergone chemotherapy, which resulted in the loss of his signature mustache and hair. He also reported experiencing side effects such as the temporary loss of his sense of taste. Lafer expressed his gratitude for the public support, stating he is pleased to participate in normal life again as he continues his recovery.
